How do you propose conciousness will be reach regarding which DE will be 
the *Default* one targeted to novice end user?

You do realize that DE spins are the ones that have most to gain and 
most to lose and there in lays the current and historical friction.

You can just imagine how much of an vitamins injection the community 
surrounding any of the other DE would get if they became the "Default" 
choice for the project so in there lays the stakes for all parties 
involved..

Find a way so that all *DE parties are satisfied with that Default 
choice is/will be and your really, truly, deeply believe dream with 
cherry on top will come to pass...
