you are right with a Mentoring Program for the Fedora Project as a whole

but in a smaller scope, we integrated mentorship into the membership
process for the Ambassador Group with great success

i also think, all Ambassadors are in charge to improve themselves to be
able to give new contributors a helping hand to start into the right
group in Fedora (so in my eyes every Ambassador should be some kind of a
mentor)
