The question here is...

a) do you want to use vga16fb/vesafb everywhere (not portable to all
   arches)
b) do you want to change the boot model depending on how supported
   someone's particular card is for fb mode in the kernel?

Not sure how useful this is just for hiding some kernel spew. :)
