Somewhat tangentially related:

it'd be nice if pam config files were restructured somewhat so that things
like default password policies could be established easily. Some of the
stuff in system-auth is managed by authconfig, and some isn't, which makes
it hard to work with currently (non-authconfig managed info should be moved
to a separate file so policy can be established w/o authconfig blowing your
changes away later)
