Idea for ftp (apt yum) mirrors (Revisited)

FYI.

A month ago I posted this idea (see forwarded) email. I discovered that 
mozdev.org is actually using this principle. It's completely transparent 
for the end user. If you go to http://downloads.mozdev.org you get
automatically forwarded to one of the mirrors.
