Kernel eating memory, ends up trashing

64MB ram, and you've got 12MB (4k * 3002) already in the inode cache. 
The bug we just fixed could easily be causing your problems.

If those numbers continue to rise directly as performance degrades, then
that's almost certainly the cause.
