What about the versioning? Will xxx-release continue to have
rpm-monotonic larger VRs than the previous releases?

Some repositories use the version of redhat-release package to form
tags ensuring rpm-safe upgrade paths from previous RH releases (which
wouldn't be a bad policy for RH itself).
