Compile this program free.c :
-------------------------------
void main(void) {
        while (1) malloc (4096) ;
}
-------------------------------

$ gcc free.c

Check the current memory usage with "free".
run "./a.out" until it crash :
$ ./a.out
Killed

Then use the "free" command to see if you have more free memory.
