Keyboard switcher in test1

Hello, all:

The gnome keyboard switching applet in test1 doesn't work -- it 
gives an OAFID error. It's a real hindrance to some of us who like 
switching their keyboard layouts for fun and profit. :) What needs 
to be done to resolve this issue? I don't think it's upstream, and 
b.r.c searching is not giving me any results.
