A couple of notes:
- .desktop file should go to %{_datadir}/applications as per
freedesktop.org spec; %{_datadir}/gnome/apps is GNOME1-ish; directory
does not even exist on a clean Fedora system

Since this is fedora-devel I think you could safely assume there will be
few users running < RH9 :)

- Fedora.us buildroot is %{_tmppath}/%{name}-%{version}-%{release}-root-
%(%{__id_u} -n)

This allows multiple users to recompile the same package without writing
over each other's builds
