I'll bet you anything that redhat has been smart, and disabled icmp echo
requests, due to the exposures that icmp helps with, when coordinating a
Dos attack. I can't ping anything out side of my network, due to my well
configured firewall, and a pos aDsl modem. However, I was able do run a
traceroute and it finished on the 19th hop.
