java-1.4.2-gcj-compat uninstalls sun jre

Does java-1.4.2-gcj-compat *really* need the Provides: jre stuff?

We really can't ship FC4 in such a way that Sun's jre (which is feature 
complete today) is uninstalled seemingly without warning when gcj is not 
complete yet.

We are pretty much in agreement that rpm/yum are not at fault here, so 
we need a solution in the java package.
