I'm almost sure it is. I believe that the xen-itized Linux that boots
might detect the hardware differently.

Perhaps stuff like diffs of lspci and post-boot dmesg would be more
useful?

Anyway, my xen-itized Linux boots in runlevel 3 and I don't use rhgb.
