Ah, you are correct.  I am using the kde-redhat packages and they too have 
Konsole on the desktop context menu.  I hadn't tried it in KDE since before 
3.4 (which is when I started using the kde-redhat packages instead of 
rebuilding my own).  It's a good thing.
