radeonfb kernel switch no longer works?

On amd64 with radeon 8500, dmesg:

Bootdata ok (command line is root=/dev/hda5 
video=radeonfb:1024x768-32 at 100)
Linux version 2.6.12-1.1437_FC5

This used to give console output at 1024x768. Even a couple 
of weeks ago, maybe. Now I get a vga display.

Have the kernel switches changed?
