X problem - no display with latest update

Averatec 3200-series laptop using the vesa driver. X apparently starts,
but the display remains blank. Reinstalling xorg-x11-server-Xorg,
xorg-x11-server-utils, all of the various xorg-x11-drv rpms, and the
synaptics rpm from FC5 brings back my display.
