More likely, something in the dependency chain requires either
smtpdaemon or /usr/sbin/sendmail, and in the absence of any other
information to go on yum's dependency resolver picks the package with
the shortest name, that being "exim".

Exim has busted dependencies at the moment owing to the unannounced
bumping of Postgres which has broken various bits. It will be fixed
relatively soon, as one of us will rebuild the package in a few days
if the maintainer does not.

But something does. You can temporarily add BuildRequires: postfix or
something to force some other SMTP server. (Assuming that the other
ones don't have similar dependency problems.)

Welcome to rawhide.
