I'm not sure I would agree with "half hearted", but I'll not argue that it was
not well tested.

Since then, I have a better spec file, which I HAVE tested, for both backward
and forward compatibility. I tested it out on my home system, just right before
the current 2 week offsite that I am now engaged in. I did not want to commit
it, and then not be there for immediate follow up (should the need arise). Since
the current commit was broken, but in a known way, I made the decision to not
introduce my new commit until I get back (which will be the 22nd).
