Maybe for packages in ex-Extras where you can upgrade versions as much as
you like. But there are not enough volunteers to maintain core packages
and do security-fixes.

They failed because they couldn't keep up with the project's promises.
Even copying patches from RHEL errata packages was too much work for the
few volunteers.
