Why on earth would you point someone to my wiki page...when the
conversation is happening here..in an open list. What I do is not
important.. no more important that what you do for this project. If
you have the freedom to ask this list about implementing a flash
service that mimics Ubuntu, then I have the freedom to request you
bring technical specifics to the discussion instead of asking other
people to do that work for you. You've brought this up for general
discussion and I think its appropriate that you make the effort to
address the concerns in public. What I do in the Fedora project is
rather unimportant to the question at hand. The fact that I'm an
elected representative on the Fedora Board and thus have been given a
mandate by the Fedora community to guide overall project direction has
absolutely no bearing on whether or not you provide the information I
have asked for in this list in response to your interest. The
question at hand is whether or not we can run a service in a way that
is not in conflict to our policies concerning pointing people to 3rd
party repositories. I continue to withhold judgment, until I can see
the service code that Ubuntu uses to run their service. But I am
skeptical we can do it via a service we ourselves host considering our
current policy concerning not pointing our users to 3rd party
repositories.

Bastien has already hinted at the approach will probably end up making
use of.. exposing mime types via rpm provides..which in turn can be
resolved through repository metadata, which can all be done without a
central service that we have to host.

Does that include the code for the service that ubuntu runs or is that
just the client code that talks to the service? The client code isn't
the issue... its the service we'd have to run centrally on Fedora
project infrastructure that is going to be problematic.
