No one has ever said dbus is appropriate for everything - you didn't
give any details of what you're doing, but there are plenty of things
it *doesn't* make sense to use dbus for, or at least there are better
choices.  However, it is very appropriate for implementing long
running core system services, because that's what it was designed for.
