As mentioned earlier in this thread today:

Simply download those:

http://people.centos.org/hughesjr/open-vm-tools/5/SRPMS/open-vm-tools-0-0.20080620.el5.centos.src.rpm
http://install.dulug.duke.edu/pub/linux/add-on/distrib/centos-5/SRPMS/open-vm-tools-0-0.20080319.2.el5_2.src.rpm

http://people.centos.org/hughesjr/open-vm-tools/5/SRPMS/open-vm-tools-kmod-0-0.20080620.2.6.18_92.el5.src.rpm
http://install.dulug.duke.edu/pub/linux/add-on/distrib/centos-5/SRPMS/open-vm-tools-kmod-0-0.20080319.1.2.6.18_92.1.10.el5.src.rpm

merge each of the two and submit for review; if you need help then
contact me in private (I'll help with the modifications for the kmod2
stuff and I'll normally take care of rebuilding all the kmod for newly
released Fedora update kernels).

P.S.: The base for the packages above iirc comes from Livna; see
http://bugzilla.livna.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1664
http://bugzilla.livna.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1665
I still have those packages on my hard disk somewhere.
