In order to upgrade prelink (or glibc, in my case) without
sinking the whole system do the following:

a) set PRELINKING=no in /etc/sysconfig/prelink
b) run /etc/cron.daily/prelink
c) Upgrade.

Optional:
d) set PRELINKING=yes in /etc/sysconfig/prelink

Even more optional, as it will be run later sometime by cron:
e) run /etc/cron.daily/prelink
