texlive-2009 pdflatex doesn't work (sometimes)

In a slightly related issue, I found that after I did the most recent
updates from texlive (yesterday), xelatex and bibtex segfaulted
immediately. "yum reinstall texlive-xetex* texlive-bibtex*" seems to
have fixed it though ...
