If it's being stripped there's probably a good *reason* for it to be
stripped, so you might want to look at the changelogs first and see if
you can find out why. (git blame is great for this, if it's a git-era
change).

But anything like that in the spec should really have a comment to
explain it, so...slap on the wrist to whoever put it in without a
comment =)
