For F17 at least, quite good if your network card supports it.  At the
moment, that means Intel 6xxx and later, ath5k, ath9k, and perhaps a few
others.  Try this:

iw phy

and if under "Supported interface modes:" you see "AP", then your card
and driver are capable of real AP mode.
