no , I also have problems in F18.
I got problems build VirtualBox packages on F18 and rawhide, but not on
F17, with user Manual's
build.log wrote:

restricted \write18 enabled.
VirtualBox.spec just have :
BuildRequires: /usr/bin/pdflatex
have you any suggestion that I can try it ?
I can't find any relevant error and doesn't use updates-testing
