To make an example:
gnome3: "Minimal Install" + mesa-dri-drivers xorg-x11-server-Xorg 
xorg-x11-drivers gnome-session-xsession gnome-shell telepathy-logger 
(and possibly control-center)

(FWIW, I guess telepathy-logger should be a dependency of gnome-shell)
