Thanks for pointing that out. I've reviewed the symlinks again
(and discovered that I didn't convert basic xkb layouts - with
no xkbvariant set). Should be much better now:

croat.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/hr.map.gz
cz-us-qwertz.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/cz.map.gz
de-latin1.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/de.map.gz
de-latin1-nodeadkeys.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/de-nodeadkeys.map.gz
de.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/de.map.gz
fr_CH-latin1.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/ch-fr.map.gz
fr_CH.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/ch-fr.map.gz
hu.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/hu.map.gz
sg-latin1.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/ch-de_nodeadkeys.map.gz
sg.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/ch-de_nodeadkeys.map.gz
slovene.map.gz -> /lib/kbd/keymaps/xkb/si.map.gz
