Just don't use GNOME? More seriously, this is the bug with the instructions
on how to write the "terminal chooser" patch for glib:
So far, not one of the people that so really badly needs their own terminal emulator
selected by glib either wrote a patch, or paid somebody to write that patch.
(Were these the power users you spoke of?)
I don't think anyone's going to work on this, so feel free to pick it up.
