The main author of the spec made a revision in which he integrated some of 
the suggestions:

(even one of the name changes, which was also implemented in KDE on 
2009-11-01, IMHO a very bad idea back then for compatibility reasons, but 
now all current implementations including libappindicator use that name, so 
that's one less reason for GNOME developers to complain).

There was no feedback whatsoever for that revised version.
