Validity of i686 as a release blocker

I still use i686 for my primary server, primary desktop and primary laptop. 
I just don't hit install issues as I rarely due fresh install on those 
machines. I do try to help debug kernel issues.
I am unlikely to buy i686 hardware, but I might scrounge some if I could 
get it for free.
