Differences among koji hosts

no, not all are the same hardware wise.

The buildhw machines are hardware (ibm blades). 
The buildvm machines are kvm virtual machines. 

So, you could be hitting some kvm issue perhaps. 

Can you duplicate the failure in a kvm vm elsewhere?
