ACK. Does anybody know if there are any x86_64/64bit-CPUs which do not 
support sse3?

I don't see sse3 in /proc/cpuinfo of any machine I have, but I also 
don't see any runtime error/warning from darktable.

ACK.

Exactly - That's the actual problem. Upstream does not care and Fedora 
seems unable to address this issue.
