Just letting you guys know what I've been up to lately. Looking at our Fedora RPM documentation, and the Fedora RPM Guide in particular, I realized that it's probably not worth trying to go through all of those RPM Guide wordy, printed book-style chapters and try to get all of that content up-to-date.

So I started writing a new packager's guide from scratch. I plan to make this rewrite much more topic-oriented, as far as it can be done with DocBook, anyway. Also, I intend to use the packaging guidelines on the Fedora wiki as the primary source. While at the Desktop Summit in Berlin, I found out that the vast majority of Fedora packagers that I talked to use the wiki guidelines and documentation only, so why not adapt our docs to their needs.

I'll keep you updated on how it goes and will try to publish a first draft with RPM basics documented soon.

Cheers,
Petr Kovar
