I personnally think that it is a bad idea. In my opinion there should be
no difference between EPEL and RHEL packages. Also all we do in EPEL 
is best effort, not only for stability, we are volunteers.

For packages that cannot achieve the same quality than RHEL packages
sure they could be somewhere under the EPEL umbrella, say in EPEL plus
or in a F6 rebuild, but I don't think it would be good to have package
of less quality in the main EPEL repo.
