F12: 30 second freeze when accessing certain panel items ?

Apparently it's an xorg performance issue that affects any non-KMS
driver (ie, nvidia, and anyone using nomodeset).

There is NO NEED to label the proprietary nvidia driver as "evil" and
imply that the problem is somehow caused by nvidia's driver when it is
actually an xorg issue.
