Thank you for your constructive criticism. We'll add it to the 
list.

Seriously though, Qt is developing the gstreamer backend as the 
main one. KDE however feels the xine one is the way to go 
(Amarok, Kaffeine). So, the worst that can happen (given that 
both work to become the default)...we have two working backends. 
Sounds good to me. Of course both backends have to stop sucking 
in their own ways, but that should come in time.

This isn't the removal of xine (which is the one I've been using 
since whenever), it will still be there for you to use if you so 
choose. This is just which one is the default for new 
installations.
