Bugs related to file handling are likely caused by MLT, the media framework Kdenlive uses.
Try to reproduce the bug in OpenShot, a GNOME-based video editor that also uses MLT.
If the same error appears, http://www.mltframework.org/ should be the place to report the 
bug.
