Update to 4.11.1 Changed Kmail Settings

After a recent update to 4.11.1, my settings in Kmail were changed to
include detailed notifications of new mail messages.  I previously had
notifications set completely off.

Of course, it was easy to reset this (after I found where to do it
again).  But why would an update mess with my settings?  (And what
other settings were changed?)

This seems like a very bad policy.
