Ah, thx for the heads up!

Upon further investigation it looks like the _lock_file issue was
already solved for several months in the enchant SVN:

It's strange there hasn't been any new release of enchant, the last
release was over a year ago...

Anyway, with this patch I can get enchant compiled and packaged, so a
review request can be expected soon :)
