You need to check xdpyinfo when the problem occurs. Some drivers are known to
miscalculate DPI when xrandr is used, and firefox can't be blamed for quirking
when Xorg feeds it garbage information (ie you're probably hitting an Xorg bug.
Get it fixed Xorg side)
