I  think I took care of this awhile ago by just excluding the fonts from the
package and adding
Requires:       dejavu-fonts-sans

for the default situation.

Since scripts based on python-matplotlib can be configured to use additional
fonts in plotting output, It will be interesting to know how to get it to call
the font autoinstaller when a new font family is requested.

I'm going to close this bug out, as I think I've correctly addressed this in
the packaging. Please re-open if needed.
