The characters that are needed are in the Greek Extended Unicode group,
http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U1F00.pdf
and there are a couple of hundred of them.

The Greek Extended Unicode group contains 'pre-composed' characters only. That
means, they are essentially the basic Greek vowels with one or more accents.
There are nine accents in total for Greek Polytonic. So, for this work it just
needs to take the Greek vowels from http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0370.pdf
and add the diacritics (as required) from
http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0300.pdf
Sort of a large-scale copy-paste task.
