Apologies for not providing prompt replies to some of the question raised on
this bug. I was working on some other project for last couple of weeks. I am
back on this issue again.

Must: F18 Beta is out, so for easy comparison between old and new liberation i
have created tarball with changed fontname of old liberation to "liberation
sans/serif/mono 1-07-2". So we can have both fonts same time on system and
easily do comparisons. Please download it from and give more feedback
http://pravins.fedorapeople.org/liberation-fonts-ttf-1-07-2.tar.gz 

I do agree liberation 2.0 is not backward compatible w.r.t hinting (non
anti-aliased and new one anti aliased)

Still if majority says revert this feature, i am perfectly fine with it. We
will have Fedora i18n meeting tomorrow in #fedora-meeting on irc.freenode.net
at 0600 UTC. So will be helpful if some of you can join there. After that we
can send mail on #fedora-devel for more audience may be
