These two (gimp'ed to get them side-by-side but otherwise unmod'ed) were among
some of the e-mails with the freetype people while testing changes. I think the
left hand-side was what prompted the last or the 2nd last of the commits in
comment 35. i.e. if you don't apply the whole series but skip the last or
possibly the last two you can get this look with gnome terminal.
