Correcting some facts:

I myself use it in daily use and I know a number of people using it. Bill
boards in street using this is not rare. Agreed the usage is minimal.

Lohit Malayalam is not the system default font for ml in any distros I know. It
is packaged in most of the distros.

I would leave it to the font maintainer to decide on this. I am ok with keeping
the glyph or removing it.
