That's quite unfortunate. I did organised a one-day Fedora miniconf at 
LCA two years ago, and it was quite successful. We had a few Red Hat 
speakers from the main LCA conference to speak too.

If we were to organise a Fudcon to coincide with LCA, I don't think 
people will get distracted by other LCA activities as long as 1) we are 
near or at the LCA location, 2) do it during the miniconf days, and 3) 
have a strong line-up of talks and speakers which should not be a 
problem if we were to hold it in Australia.

I'm happy to help out too but do take note that I'm not physically 
located in Australia, so I am not sure if I will be able to get any 
funds for travel.
