EMEA FUDCon 2012, French bid

Kévin,
Bonjour! :) I think, and perhaps I might be biased here being, you
know, of French origins and all, that it would be FABULOUS to have
FUDCon in Paris.
With regard to your question on number of rooms: I think normally we
would ask a hotel about holding a block of 15-20 rooms (for 2 people
per room), but making sure that we can increase that, if it becomes
necessary, by maybe another 10-15 rooms. We dont' want to lock
ourselves into being stuck with a huge bill if people can't come, but
we don't want to wind up having people all over the place, either. :)
My main concern here is whether or not having the event simultaneously
with OWF would lead to a serious increase in hotel pricing. My
understanding is that Paris is already above average in terms of hotel
pricing as compared with other cities in Europe, and I'd like to make
sure that we aren't looking at rooms that are 300 Euros/night... or
that we can take the opportunity to avoid that type of pricing by
making hotel agreements as soon as possible after a final bid is
chosen. (I haven't read through your entire bid yet, so some of this
may be detailed in there.)
Good luck! :)
