On the other hand I feel like this change may be a step back
in some sense: it is a bit like all the device or video
drivers installed by default though most of them are not needed.

I can explain though that one of the main reasons for
@input-methods is the problem that of getting the
right immodules installed at the same time:
this can't really be done with package dependencies
since it depends on whether you are using gnome or kde.
Installing all input-methods has helped fedora-i18n
not having a answer the FAQ how do I install "my favourite"
input method... so we may leave this open until we
solve that problem.
